A convenient solution for new local Anglia Co-operative food store

The aim of the Anglia Regional Co-operative is to meet the needs of the community by offering a convenient, quality shopping experience. It became apparent to Anglia Co-operative that the developing community of Sawtry was beginning to outgrow the existing store and when the prospect arose to move in to a much larger outlet, they seized the opportunity.

Sawtry, which is a village set between Huntingdon and Peterborough, has a population nearing 7,000 and greatly benefits from the amenities that the local convenience store can provide. Expanding the store and increasing the retail floor space presents a better opportunity to meet the rising demands of a growing community and enhances the services available to the village.

The project was developed on an existing site that required extensive refurbishment and as a result required an experienced and innovative construction company to help Anglia Co-operative achieve their objective. Lindum Sturgeon, a part of the successful Lindum Group, was awarded the contract to complete the refurbishment. Anglia Co-operative’s intention was to roll out brand continuity throughout their stores and therefore a resin flooring solution was chosen as the preferred option.  Having worked with both Anglia Co-operative and Lindum Sturgeon on a number of stores previously, The National Flooring Company was contacted to provide the flooring solution.

The National Flooring Company has extensive experience within the retail industry and knew the specification and high standards that were required by both parties. The Degafloor Flake system, which has been used throughout various stores, provides an extremely durable, seamless and decorative finish.

The back of house areas which are not open to the public were coated with the Degafloor Seal system. The mono-colour system is used to provide a protective layer over the concrete and demarcate certain areas. The majority of the area was coated in a grey system with a yellow area highlighted for deliveries.

All Degafloor systems are fully cured within just two hours and combined with National Flooring’s expertise in the installation of fast curing resin solutions ensured that a fast track programme could be maintained.

National Flooring worked alongside Lindum Sturgeon to complete the refurbishment to the satisfaction of Anglia Co-operative The new store has been welcomed by the community of Sawtry and has been commended for its updated appearance and increased product range.
