Cimandis, which has grown to become one of the largest trading operations in the Channel Islands, called upon the expertise of resin flooring specialist RESYN for advice when they decided to refurbish their manufacturing operations.
Cimandis, part of the Sandpiper CI group, is a manufacturing and distribution business with five locations across the Channel Islands. The company supply into the retail, catering and licensed trade with a wide range of products including fresh meat, fish and bakery products.
As an integral part of the islands’ manufacturing network the company needed the refurbishment to be completed as quickly as possible. RESYN have vast experience in the application of resin flooring systems to the food processing industry and are aware of the time constraints restricting many manufacturers. As a result the company, which specialise in the application of MMA quick resins, were chosen to help with the refurbishment.
Guernsey Foodservice was the first to benefit from the upgrade with all fish preparation, bakery and butchery areas being completed with the Degafloor FB system, an extremely hardwearing and slip resistant finish. The company decided to use different colours to differentiate the preparation areas. The installation was completed with minimal disruption and allowed the company to continue trading shortly after.
A year later and following the success at the Guernsey Foodservice, Sandpiper CI contacted RESYN to help with the refurbishment of the butchery at the Jersey Foodservice.
The existing concrete floor was level and needed to be set to falls to enable all by-products to run to the drain. As part of the flooring package, and again to minimise disruption, RESYN installed a fast curing resin underlay screed which was finished off with the Degafloor QTA system. The system is aesthetically similar to the Degafloor FB system and provides all the same benefits but is trowel applied as opposed to free flowing.
RESYN has installed approximately 700m2 for Cimandis to date and both the products and service they have received have proven to be a success.
