RESYN helps Celtic FC achieve goal

commercial flooring resin celtic-park-stadiumCeltic Football Club has called in Peterborough-based RESYN – an expert installer of resin flooring solutions for industrial and commercial use – to help improve safety at its stadium after a series of slipping related incidents angered fans.

It’s the second time RESYN has been involved with the Scottish giants after carrying out upgrades with non slip floor areas within the stadium three years ago.

The club was so impressed by the non slip floor with its durable properties that it invited the company back to carry out the next phase of what is eventually planned to be a total coverage of non slip floor steps throughout the stadium.

Previous problems had occurred after contractors applied a floor paint to steps making them slippery. RESYN removed the offending paint and applied Degafloor Full Broadcast solution – a heavy duty anti-slip resin flooring system – to provide the grip, durability and visibility required to meet the latest building regulations and safety legislation. The installation was also tailored to match Celtics team colours.

And since the initial installation of the non slip floor finish, almost one-third of Celtic Park three years ago not one case of an accident has been encountered in the treated areas.

Celtic FC originally chose RESYN after the team played a fixture at Leeds United, saw the Degafloor FB installation completed at Elland Road and instantly recognised its non slip floor potential. And as a result of its ‘premier league’ service to both Leeds and Celtic, RESYN has now been approached by many other top UK soccer clubs interested in applying Degafloor FB to improve safety in their own stadiums.

RESYN’s commercial director James Wright said: “We are delighted to be working with a club like Celtic, one of the biggest and most successful football clubs in the world, to help them increase the overall safety of their stadium. The reaction to our work by Celtic and other clubs has been fantastic and we hope to be working with many more leading names soon.”
