Over the last couple of years, the company has chosen to support the Phoenix School in Orton Goldhay, which takes great pride in the quality of education and learning resources that they provide to the children of Peterborough.

The Phoenix school, rated outstanding by Ofsted, is a day special school for children who have learning difficulties which may be severe or profound and multiple. The school opened in 2004 and caters for boys and girls aged between two and nineteen years of age. Due to financial constraints, the school is very reliant upon private sponsorship to help provide the latest resources and teaching equipment.

RESYN was made aware of the school by one of its Governors who explained the school’s aims and achievements. It was apparent that the establishment has an enormous focus on their pupils, working closely with them to help them reach their full potential in both an educational and social setting. The achievements that the school have made are substantial and greatly benefit the local children. RESYN were impressed by the school’s aims and accomplishments and decided to assist them further by offering a donation.

The money that was donated in the first year helped towards the purchase of a new vehicle and whilst RESYN usually only provide one donation per organisation, it was decided that they would provide a second donation the following year to help with the running costs of their new vehicle. The school often organise educational visits to local places to help provide the students with a wide variety of experiences. The donation helps the school to maintain these excursions and offer new ventures for the children, which help with educational development.

Phil Pike, Headteacher at Phoenix School comments, We are very grateful to the RESYN Company for their generous support. This will now allow us to go out daily to visit both locally and nationally within the school bus. Without this support, we would have to consider reducing the number of visits taken during the school day. This also greatly helps our parents/carers who sometimes have difficulty in accessing such community resources!”

Robert Brown, Managing Director of The RESYN commented, “I was astounded by the work that the school does for the children in Peterborough and as a local business we like to support local organisations that make a difference within our community. I am pleased that our donations can continue to help the good work that the school delivers.”
