Choosing the right flooring solution at Kiddicare’s new superstore was made child’s play when RESYN specified a range of multiple floor finishes using Degafloor products to address the requirements for the retail, office and kitchen areas.
Peterborough-based Kiddicare, which was established in 1974, is the UK’s largest privately owned provider of nursery supplies to the public. Due to recent rapid expansion, Kiddicare embarked on a new adventure and moved into a purpose-built development having appointed RESYN to provide the multiple floor finishes throughout the three-storey building.
During an extensive consultation process, it became clear to RESYN that Kiddicare were looking for creative, bespoke flooring solutions but also multiple floor finishes suitable for different environments. Further to discussions, RESYN specified a range of finishes, the Degafloor Flake system for retail and office areas, Degafloor FB for the restaurant kitchen and the Degafloor Stone carpet for the in-store car seat area.
It was important that the floor finish in the retail area complemented the store’s child-friendly surroundings, therefore, the Flake system was chosen because it could be tailored to Kiddicare’s exact requirements in terms of colour and design. After much deliberation and with the help of RESYN, supported by Degafloor, Kiddicare chose 3 variations of the Degafloor Flake system to cover over 5,000 sqm.
During the design stage, Kiddicare proposed the addition of walkways meaning RESYN had to measure and accurately lay stainless steel trims, in a unique curved design, on each of the three floors. The main retail areas, which were chosen in white, red and grey, were complemented by the reverse in red on the walkways.
Kiddicare wanted to make a big impact in the car seat area and chose a stone carpet in two colours, black and natural stone. By moulding stainless steel trims, RESYN was able to create a road effect adding character and a distinctive look to the in-store area.
The Degafloor FB system installed in the restaurant’s kitchen provides outstanding slip-resistant, which is required for food preparation areas. All of the Degafloor systems offer outstanding durability to provide Kiddicare with the confidence that will have an easy-to-maintain floor for many years to come.
RESYN was able to work efficiently to ensure there was minimal disruption to other trades. Impressed with the floor finishes and the technical advice offered by RESYN throughout the programme, additional areas were added to the project scope as the installation progressed.
Following the installation, RESYN has remained in close contact with Kiddicare offering advice on post-installation matters such as cleaning regimes with the Aftercare service.
