Center Parcs picks RESYN

The popular UK holiday destination needed to find a durable new flooring system for its ‘Parcmarket’ at the Whinfell Forest site in Penrith as part of an extensive refurbishment of the site.

Project Manager at Center Parcs, Stephen Gormley, commented: “We were keen to replace the existing floor with something that offered increased durability – vital for an area with such high footfall. Another important factor for the new flooring system was that it had to be installed with as little disruption to the trading of the outlet as possible.”

The new flooring system totalling 510 sqm had three different existing floor finishes and levels causing real problems in terms of flooring selection. However, resin flooring specialists RESYN were able to specify a Degafloor Flake resin system which can overcoat tiles, marine ply or galvanised metals as well as concrete.

The tough, impermeable resin surface creates an attractive seamless finish that eliminates weak spots, such as grouted joints – helping retailers to overcome high maintenance costs often associated with vinyl or tiled finishes.

Stephen continued: “Degafloor’s properties immediately stood out to us, especially its rapid cure time. RESYN carried out an efficient installation in a professional manner that minimised impact on the guests and the operation of the outlet.”

Meanwhile, Center Parcs was even able to incorporate company colours into the floor thanks to Degafloor’s ability to provide bespoke finishes that enabled the floor to ‘blend in’ with the surrounding environment.

Commercial director of Degafloor, James Wright, commented: “Center Parcs had a very common flooring problem – they needed a hardwearing floor that looked good and could be installed with minimal disruption. The Degafloor Flake system is an ideal solution to these issues and the benefit of curing in just two hours means that outlets need not close down for long periods of time, if at all.”
