resin floor installers kitchens and hotels ACS_9393a

Situated in the idyllic County of Rutland, Barnsdale Lodge Hotel has been featured in the Sunday Telegraph’s ‘Fifty of Britain’s Cosiest Hotels’ as a popular choice for short stays as well as a serene wedding/party venue.

Steeped in over 250 years of history, Barnsdale Lodge Hotel offers a taste of country living at its very best. Located in the heart of the rolling English countryside and surrounded by Rutland Water Reservoir, the hotel is a tranquil rural haven, far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Offering exquisite culinary delights, ranging from a la carte dinner menus and afternoon teas the executive head chef and team are busy and constantly on the move, therefore needing a fully functional, hard wearing non-slip floor.

Their existing quarry tiled floor was in need of an update and the client felt that the slip resistance wasn’t up to industry standards, therefore The National Flooring Company were asked by Ed Burrows, Managing Director to come up with an ideal solution that would work for them.

As a popular hotel and wedding venue, the demands on the kitchen are high and therefore the client was in need of a product that would minimise the downtime of the staff and cause as little disruption to them and their serving times. Following in-depth discussions, it was agreed that the installation would be undertaken over two back to back shifts meaning that the kitchen would only have to close for one day and one night. As part of the installation package The National Flooring Company disconnected, removed and stored all kitchen equipment; reconnecting upon completion.

To maximise the slip resistance of the floor the Degafloor FB system was chosen. The system which is a heavy-duty methyl methacrylate screed provides an outstanding slip resistant finish, created through the broadcasting of quartz aggregate. It has been specifically designed for areas that are frequently exposed to liquids or other contaminants that cause a slippery surface making it ideal for a busy commercial kitchen environment.

The services and installation programme that were provided by The National Flooring Company meant that the client could relax safe in the knowledge that they would receive a new kitchen floor with only one day of closure to avoid disappointing their guests and frequent diners.

James Bowie, General Manager Comments

“National Flooring have been prompt, professional and delivered a great product. The pre-installation planning was clear and informative and the install was on time and to a very high standard. Both our kitchen brigade and our hygiene consultant have been thoroughly impressed with the overall quality of the product provided”.

The Church Inn is a well known venue nestled in the heart of the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. The site has been in existence for over 100 years and recently underwent a renovation to transform the inside of pub into the new Headquarters of the Soul Food Project. The venue boasts a distinctive roof terrace that overlooks its surroundings where patrons can dine alfresco or enjoy a leisurely drink. It was decided a concrete substrate did not match the client’s specification as they were looking for a more vibrant finish. As part of the refurbishment the client was looking for a slip resistant yet aesthetically pleasing outdoor seating area that was in keeping with the rest of the “New Orleans” inspired pub.

Birmingham based Interior Designer Newman Gauge had previously worked with The National Flooring Company on numerous projects within the leisure industry. Having seen the benefits that The National Flooring Company could provide they recommended their services to Wedgewood Construction & Joinery UK & International Ltd, the contractor responsible for overseeing the whole project.

Having discussed the project requirements with all stakeholders involved in the refurbishment it was decided that a system from Degafloor, which was designed to be installed externally, would be the ideal solution.

The cold applied resin system offers outstanding durability and flexibility. It guarantees to chemically bond to the existing substrate to create a watertight bunded finish ensuring that excess water is not released to the areas below. A fleece membrane was installed to the floor and the upstands prior to the resin application to help reinforce the substrate and assist with the impermeable finish.

The main body of the resin was broadcast with a mix of red, white and black coloured aggregates to create a slip resistant finish. The textured finish will maintain its slip resistant properties even in wet conditions ensuring the area is fully complaint with health and safety standards.

The National Flooring Company have extensive experience in the leisure industry and are therefore well aware of the importance to complete refurbishment projects swiftly to avoid disruption to both the pub and any neighbouring premises. The installation was completed within just two days which included all

The re-opening weekend attracted many customers, due to the nice weather people could sit outside in the terrace area and enjoy the views.

Mick Walker from Wedgwood Construction commented “I would like to thank National Flooring for their hard work and ease of communication. The floor installed looks great and fits in with our requirements. I would have no hesitation in working them again as they delivered exactly what was promised.”

An industrial Public success

Wednesday, July 13th, 2011

commercial flooring resin Picture 019 - edited2 - mid grey no pillarsofa-78088704When the popular Chelsea club, Public, wanted to upgrade their floor finish in their bar area they turned to National Flooring for advice on a resin floor finish. The building which is situated in an old antiques warehouse required an industrial looking, durable floor finish to complement the industrial glam surroundings.

Throughout the entire club the décor is very distinctive and unlike any other club in the area. The bespoke design focuses strongly on the clubs industrial setting and incorporates unique elements including, exposed brick walls, iron beams and a stunningly lit copper bar. The club owners deliberated on the floor finishes available to them and having discussed their requirements with National Flooring it was decided that the Degafloor QT systemwould be ideal for the area.

The Degafloor QT system is a blend of resin and quartz which is trowel applied to provide an extremely durable and functional floor. The client decided to go ahead using two different shades of grey to help create a subtle blend to enhance the industrial setting.

Public which has a capacity of 429 has the bar area situated at the entrance of the club. The concrete floor which had previously been painted could not withstand the high footfall levels. The Degafloor QT system offers exceptional durability and will provide years of trouble free use.

The system, which is hand trowelled, was installed by National Flooring’s trained and experienced operatives over two nights at the beginning of the week when the club is closed. The system is fully cured within just two hours; therefore members of staff at the club could continue their daily activities as usual the following day.

Anna Simpson, National Flooring comments, “Public is an extremely prestigious club in Chelsea and is often frequented by celebrities, therefore we are delighted to have been given the opportunity to showcase our products and ability. As with all our installations we set high standards to ensure our clients receive a high quality installation and service. We hope that Public now have a floor to match their high profile and image and that it provides the durability that is required by these popular night-time venues. “

Tony Cela, Public, commented, “Public nightclub has an industrial setting and we try to complement this by matching the design of the club to its surroundings. The floor we had previously did not withstand the club’s environment therefore we had to look for something much more resilient. National Flooring has provided an excellent floor finish that not only will give us years of trouble free use but is ideally suited to the clubs interior design. The installation was carried out with extreme professionalism and with no disruption to the running of the club.”

Sophisticated revamp for Novus Leisure

Monday, March 8th, 2010

commercial flooring resin Babble-75253694Novus Leisure, a premium bar operator in major urban markets, has recently undertaken a big refurbishment of a number of venues within London. The operator was looking for a highly aesthetic floor finish that provided outstanding durability for these high footfall venues and called upon their preferred contractor, National Flooring to provide the optimal solution.

Strawberry Moons, The Loop, Babble and On Anon are amongst the bars that have recently been refurbished to complement Novus Leisure’s sophisticated and glamorous image. Whilst each of the venues offer a different experience, all of the venues follow a very similar luxurious design theme with black padded booths, extravagant chandeliers and diamante buttons. Novus Leisure was therefore looking for a stylish floor to complement the surroundings and the Degafloor QT system in black with either gold or silver glitter provided the ideal solution.

The Degafloor QT system is an extremely durable resin flooring solution. The mix of aggregates and resin which is trowelled onto the floor provides a long-lasting, seamless floor finish. The operator, which had previously used wooden, concrete and tiled finishes, found that their existing floors did not provide a suitable solution to match the range of requirements specified for the new refurbishment projects. TheDegafloor QT system not only provides outstanding durability but also offers excellent flexibility in terms of aesthetics and allowed Novus Leisure to create a bespoke, highly decorative finish to match the internal décor.

Through careful planning and co-operation with the main contractors on the refurbishment programmes, National Flooring was able to complete the installations to tight timescales due to the quick curing characteristics of the system. TheDegafloor QT system, which cures fully within 2 hours, also ensures that installations can be completed in short shutdown periods to avoid disruption of the companies trading hours.

The National Flooring Company has vast experience in the industry and is aware of the time constraints that restrict pubs and clubs. The Degafloor systems have a guaranteed bond to concrete, tiles and marine ply and allowed National Flooring to overlay the existing substrates, where possible, reducing the installation time. This unique bonding process also helps to reduce maintenance costs that are often associated with other finishes.

Anna Simpson, marketing manager of National Flooring comments, “We are delighted to continue our relationship with a high profile company such as Novus Leisure by working on their latest refurbishment projects. Having worked with Novus on previous projects we are aware of their requirements and the restrictions that they face, leaving them safe in the knowledge that National Flooring will provide an exceptional solution with minimal disruption.”
