National Flooring gets shortlisted for two industry awards

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

resin and industrial flooring DPP_0339The Resin Flooring Association, FeRFA, which holds an annual award ceremony to highlight and celebrate the expertise and professionalism within the resin flooring industry, is due to hold the 2015 awards on 27th November at the Belfry Hotel.

The award categories, including large and small projects of the year are designed to demonstrate supplier / contractor excellence within each category field. The National Flooring Company’s efforts for 2015 have been suitably rewarded by being shortlisted for two of the six categories.

The installation of a resin floor in to the new manufacturing facility at the RNLI’s Headquarters in Poole was chosen for the Large Industrial Project of the Year. The new facility, totalling 5,300m2, was designed to incorporate the production of new boats and provide a maintenance facility to repair existing boats. It is one of the biggest investment projects in RNLI history therefore every aspect of this project had to be expertly managed.

Although a relatively easy project in terms of installation, the amount of pre-contract consultation and negotiation required was considerable. Due to the scale of the project and the nature of the charity there were a large number of stakeholders involved therefore substantial pre-contract liaison was required to establish full buy-in and confidence in product and project management capabilities of The National Flooring Company. The project, which originally tendered in 2012, was completed in December 2014.

The resin floor installation within the commercial kitchens at 5* luxury Browns Hotel was chosen for the Small Commercial Project of the Year. The project, which was relatively small in size, was complex due to the age of the building, the location and its illustrious reputation.

The National Flooring Company proved its ability to provide a highly focused service, specifically designed with the protection of its customer at the forefront. It also highlighted the company’s ability to provide an expertly planned and efficiently managed installation within a potentially highly volatile environment.

Whilst The National Flooring Company provides a consistently high level of customer service to all clients it has been noticeably rewarded this year through the satisfaction of their customers who have been vocal in their gratitude.

Having previously won an award for the small project of the year in 2013 and being shortlisted again is testament to the way in which The National Flooring Company continue to approach and undertake any project, regardless of the size. The company’s hardworking values and excellence within the application of resin flooring installations continues to be recognised, not only by its customers but also by industry experts.

Winners are to be announced at the award ceremony on 27th November 2015.

Further details of the installations at Browns Hotel and RNLI are due to follow shortly, however National Flooring can be contacted 01778 343670 for further details.

National Flooring rescue RNLI in Poole

Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

The RNLI is a search and rescue charity with stations across the UK and Ireland working around the clock offering assistance to those in need. Alongside the charity’s commitment to saving lives at sea, the RNLI also has a duty of care to protect their volunteers who risk their own lives to save others. It is therefore essential the lifeboats provided are designed and manufactured to withstand the most extreme conditions. With technological advances and innovations continually being made, the tougher it is to find manufacturers with the ability to meet the requirements of their specialist lifesaving equipment. The charity therefore took the decision to acquire full control and construct a new manufacturing facility dedicated to the production of the strongest and highest quality all-weather lifeboats at their Headquarters in Poole.

This new facility has been developed to incorporate all critical business functions, including the design and production of new all-weather lifeboats, maintenance and repair of existing all-weather lifeboats, training, office and staff facilities as well as a visitors viewing area.

The latest specification all-weather lifeboats required by RNLI are exceptionally heavy, so the flooring within the new facility needed to offer suitable durability and longevity unaffected by the demanding conditions of the production environment. In addition, when the boats are brought in for repairs or testing, they are often transferred straight from the surrounding waters, thus alongside excellent durability the chosen finish also needed to provide a high degree of slip resistance.

The National Flooring Company has been working with the RNLI since 2007 installing the Degafloor range of MMA resin systems so both companies were approached from the onset of the planning of the project to provide their technical expertise.

Throughout the initial stages various specifications were discussed and evaluated and following extensive support from both The National Flooring Company and Degafloor it was agreed the Degafloor FB system most closely matched the design specifications and would be the most suited product for the environment.

The Degafloor FB system is a heavy-duty methyl methacrylate (MMA) screed that provides an outstanding level of slip resistance, created through the broadcasting of quartz aggregate. The product offers exceptional durability even in challenging environments and the benefits of the system have already been proven at many of the RNLI lifeboat stations throughout the UK and Ireland.

The project totalled 5300m2 and the installation team averaged 300m2 of finished floor a day to ensure the project remained on schedule. The area was used as a showpiece during the construction stages with benefactors visiting throughout and therefore it was critical that the highest standards were maintained for every element of works undertaken.

Getting The Right Resin Floor For You – Asking The Right Questions

Monday, September 28th, 2015

resin flooring - aylesbury 2Most people assume that there is only one type of resin floor, however there are in fact various types of resins all of which exhibit different properties & characteristics.

Differences include:

  • Curing times
  • Durability / Bonding capabilities
  • Slip Resistance
  • Installation Temperature / Temperature Resistance

When choosing the correct resin floor finish for your environment it is vital to consider the factors listed above to ensure the floor type is suitable for your environment.

Over the next few weeks we will look at each area in more detail to help you make an informed decision.

“We are continually impressed with the way National Flooring carry out our challenging projects. They inspect the site well in advance so they were fully aware of any issues that may have occurred and even provide an advice sheet. The workmanship and attitude of the workforce is always first class. Any query is always dealt with so efficiently and the office staff are always happy to help”.

commercial flooring resin Picture 085 2-0eea1f93We understand that production areas are a high priority in a factory environment. It is therefore essential that the floor finishes are up to industry standard & a resin floor finish can be ideally suited to meet your requirements.

However did you know that due to the flexibility with regards to colours & finishes a resin floor can be the ideal alternative to more traditional finishes in most areas of your premises? Our resins can cure right down to temperatures of -30ºC, which means that we can install resin floors in cold stores.
In the list below you will see several areas we can install in, for instance canteens, which has its own specific requirements, as do all the areas below.

Typical installation areas include:

  • Processing Areas (Wet & Dry)
  • Reception Areas
  • Corridors

  • Canteens
